Tour of the historic Jewish quarter of Toledo to get to know what life was like, the customs, the religion and the celebrations of the Sephardic community in the city. This is, without a doubt, the most outstanding example of medieval Jewish life to be found on the Iberian peninsula.
This tour takes approximately three hours and the proposed itinerary is:
We begin with a panoramic tour of Toledo in the group bus where we can admire the marvelous views of the city from the other side of the Tajo River. This will serve as a point where we can have a little bit of an introduction to the culture and history of the city.
- Synagogue of El Tránsito: A remarkable Jewish temple and a the key to better understanding Jewish life in Toledo.
- The Jewish House: A residential dwelling constructed between the 14th and 15th centuries, which was home to the great theologian and financier, Isaac Abrabanel.
- Synagogue of Santa María La Blanca: The oldest synagogue in Toledo; it is one of the most beautiful monuments of the Jewish quarter
- San Juan de los Reyes Monastery: A monastery constructed in the heart of the Jewish quarter, ordered by the Catholic Monarchs who were responsible for expelling the Jews in 1492.
